Save trees

Shool Project - A banana tree

School Project - A banana tree

Today we attended the project day function in my son’s school. Due to rain there were very few parents came there to see their kids project work. I took this photo today in St. Britto’s Academy, Velachery, Chennai.

Hats off to the boy/girl who created this wonderful piece of “Banana Tree”. I was attracted by the fact written on the banana tree.

If all our news papers were recycled we could save about 250,000,000 trees each year.

Agronol – Growel Coconut Special

Coconut - Growel Cocunut Special

Coconut - Growel Cocunut Special

My house has two coconut trees (Cocos nucifera). After seeing its condition my uncle from Madurai consulted one his friend, who has a PhD in Botany suggested some chemicals. So my uncle Mr. Jacob Francis brought them to Chennai last month. Its called Agronol, Growel Coconut Special, Manufactired by Annai Agro Chemicals, Tamilnadu. Net wieght is 1 k.g. Maximum retail price is Rs 75.00. The expiry is three years for the packed growel. It contains ferrous iron, manganese, zinc, boron and copper. For each tree yo need 500 gm  of  Growel which will give them the minerals for 6 months. So yearly you need  a 1 kg per tree.

How to use it?

  • Dig a half circle near the root are.
  • Mix the chemical with 3 or for kgs of sand.
  • Now  you cover the hole with this sand Growel mix.
  • On top of it fill the with normal  sand again. pore some water.

Advantages of using Growel:

  1. Avoids the falling of coconuts when they are too small (young)
  2. Increases the number of coconuts per season
  3. Increases the size of the coconuts

After I saw the cover, I am imagining that I will also get at least 500 coconuts per tree for a season 🙂

I bought new plants – Go green :)

Growing plants in containers

I moved my family to a new house in Madipakkam, Chennai. A great thing about this house is lot of space available for me an my son to play. Even we are planing to plant a few plants. But the sad thing about the house is most of the places were covered with cement. Few places have openings and we could see the sand smiles at us. On the way to my house I saw a boy selling plants. I bought a rose plant and a cool plant (I don’t know it’s name). Now I am planing to place them inside my house.

Even though we are living in place where no places available to plant any plants, we could buy some plants and keep with us.
