my first encyclopedia - siso books

My son got a book as gift (My First Encyclopedia from sisco books, Thiruvananthapuram -4) from one his grandmaa Rani. This was his first source of knowledge. When he was small kid I mean around 1.5 years itself he started playing with the book. He just started flip around the pages randomly.

This book cost her Rs. 465.00.  Their website is www.sisobooks.net. The important lesson we (I and my wife) learned from this hole process,

  • Just give the books to kids with colorful images / illustrations
  • Let them flip through them
  • Make sure that there are not taring any pages
  • If they tared one or two pages its ok.
  • Few time show them the page which they liked much
  • Ask them “Where is baby? or Where is the fan? …”
  • They don’t speak, simply they will try to point out the object
  • Now there are lot of books comes with strong papers.
  • Example Vegetables or animals or numbers ….. etc,.

This particular book cover Alphabets, Colors (Colour), Classroom, Five seasons, homes, flowers, fruits, birds, fishes, food and drinks, sea animals, numbers, times table, oranaments, vegetables, spices, antique(old/Out of fashion),  Musical Instruments, Domestic animals, wild animals, dresses, body parts, inside our body, professions and occupations, things in the garden, in our bathroom, opposites, kitchen, shapes, transports, day time, in our hospital, tools & machines, writers, scientist, sports, performing arts and culture, painters and paintings, toys, pets, vitamins, energy, our nature, leaders, presidents of India, Prime Ministers of India, wonders, festivals, places of worship, money, flags, agriculture, common creatures, jewels, reptiles, measuring instruments, action words, ….

In my personal opinion if you have a kid in your home you must keep this book in their collection. Even we as a parents should know all the words in this book so that we could easily teach our kids.
